The Sigma Beta Sorority is the oldest recognized sorority in the country, founded seventy five years ago by young women who desired to foster closer bond among the members as well as to be of service to the community.

Sigma Beta Sorority was in UP Diliman on February 14. As the sisters left the confines of the academic world, Sigma Beta Alumni Associations were formed in different parts of the country.

In Cagayan de Oro City, the Sigma Betans are involved in projects that benefit the youth, including medical missions, a scholarship program for high school students, projects for special children and an environmental youth camp. These activities are supported by different partners and donors especially the Beta Sigma Fraternity, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and other government agencies, friends and volunteers.

This year, the Sigma Betans have organized the Hiyas ng Mindanao 2007 for the benefit of all ongoing projects.
